in the fi eld of light interpretation of the local cultural heritage and see an exceptional place in Europe?
Send in your application before 30 June 2012 to [email protected]
The Valdstein Loggia, a major Baroque monument, will be the focal point of the workshop. A one-week
interactive workshop will culminate on the autumn equinox day, 22 September 2012, with a public multi-genre evening performance.
The aim of the Landscape of Light is to hold an international European meeting of light designers who will work on ways of culturally animating objects which are part of our national cultural heritage and the public space. The Landscape of Light will seek to explore this unique site and ways of offering a different view of the Baroque landscape composition. The task will be to reconsider our everyday personal and close perception of the site in new or revived surprising and unexpected ways.
The workshop will be based on observation and analysis of the local natural light situation, which will be recorded and transformed into a dramatic feature – an event in this landscape setting. The basis of the creative approach will be the site’s genius loci and its turbulent history. Instead of artifi cial lighting (i.e. using equipment), the natural light (the sun, fi re) will be the key tool, and the work will primarily refl ect the natural cultural and social life at the site.
17/09 Recognition of the historical and social context of the site; site exploration
18–21/09 Practical workshops
22/09 Autumn equinox – public performance
The workshop is open to professionals with previous experience in light design. A pro-active approach to the
action and presence for the entire duration of the workshop are assumed.
